When
we talk about the fashion industry, it is impossible to avoid the discussion of
bridal collections. Brides are the talk of the town now a days, as many
celebrities are getting married like (Faizan sheikh and Maham Aamir, Asad
Mehmood and Sara Shehzad, Imran Ashraf and Kiran Imran, Amin Khan and Muneeb
butt). People are more interested in their outfit, makeovers rather than their
personal life gossips. A war is going on in the fashion industry that who is
wearing what and by whom.
Pakistani
fashion industry is in its growth phase now. People of emerging countries like
Pakistan love to follow and adopt new trends. Traditionally we had few
designers and makeup artists in our industry and we used to follow their trends
for brides. We had very limited choices of colors for apparels in weddings,
starts with mehndi function yellow was mehndi’s color with natural-look and
light contouring, red color range for Barat with dark red and golden makeover,
and reception (waleema) is a day of light colors like skin white baby pink
light makeover with heavy jewelry. Makeover choices were also confined black
was considered as sure color for the bride.
I
remember in my teenage it was my deadly desire to get HSY to design fresh red
lehenga with golden finishing and makeover from Ather Shahzad with traditional
katmala. But now the trend has got changed because every Pakistani girl have so
many choices for their special day. The new designers of fashion industry are
coming with very creative and innovative work. Pakistani
brides are also ready to experiment with new trends and break the traditional
style of dressing color choice and makeover.
Now
people don’t really prefer red lehenga for barat and yellow sharara for mehndi
any more. Fashion trends are rapidly changing, now brides prefer more sea
green, maroon, royal blue, over red for baraat, the Afghani frock is becoming a
trend for mehndi. Brides are experimenting combination of colors for
their special day like green and sea green blue tea pink, even colors like Gary
and purple color now used in lehenga.
The
famous politician Sharmila Farooqui wore yellow lehenga on her mehndi. Breaking
the traditional mehndi concept, where you need yellow sharara or kameez shalwar
on mehndi and lehenga is for baraat. Most recent Amin khan dolled up
with purple on her wedding day instead of red. The millennial generation
of Pakistan are now even trying western dresses in their weddings like maxi and
makeover style is also changed completely. Earlier golden shimmer was must in
eye shadow of every bride and black smoky makeover is in demand.
Few
years back the biggest challenge for local consumer was to reach out designer's
bridal collection. Although now it’s very easy to have a glimpse of their work
on Television and social media platforms in events like bridal couture week,
fashion weeks, but purchasing or having an original copy is out of the question
for the normal consumer. But still brides are trying hard to make their special
day more special with good makeover, best outfit with stylish jewelry.
